Judging and training

Hello,

I have been busy this last week. I had a training day Sunday , which focused on handling and body language. It was a really fun day, lovely weather and 3 great groups who tried everything I suggested to them.

On Saturday I was doing the KC rules and regulations judging exam, which I passed. It was a long day but I learnt a lot of useful stuff. Well worth it.

Last week I had a lot of lessons, so nothing too dramatic to report! I also did some shopping too, need a bit of a refit on the fashion front!

I am now looking forward to the shows, Scunthorpe Championship show is this Saturday which I am really looking forward too. Next weekend (over Easter) I am judging in Sweden, which I am very much looking forward too.

Update 23rd March

Hello.

After a very busy week of training last Sunday was the first outdoors show of the summer. It was a lovely day in which I even got slightly sun burnt!

Che had 3 clears out of 3, Jack had 1 clear and 2 silly mistake’s (one of which was knocking the last pole down!) and Scotty was a little bit too excited and knocked one or two poles down in his runs.

Technically though I was very pleased, his turns and weaves were really good and served to reinforce that we have made significant progress this winter in training.
This week at training I have set up the flat tunnel into an angled weave entry, something which, when the dogs come at speed, often causes problems.
This week I have quite a few things going on, I have lessons Tues & Weds before an early morning trip to the airport Thursday, and a training day on Sunday, so it is going to be a busy one!

Well done to Miranda and Alice at the weekend for their respective successes in the shows they went too!

LGT Workshop DVD Info

Hello,

I have some news about the DVD today, as we have had a small problem with people trying to order it from PAYPAL, but we now have some good news!!

For those of you who don’t know, the LGT WORKSHOP DVD covers 6 separate areas, Weaves, Contacts, Common Traps, Handling Courses, Waits & Obstacle Discrimination. Its running time is over 70 minutes. Please read the DVD reviews at:

http://www.leegibsontraining.com/dvdreviews.htm

It has come to my attention on more than one occasion the PAYPAL payment system displays an error message. We have been trying to find the root cause of the problem without much success, but now have a solution.

If you are trying to purchase the LGT Workshop DVD via the website: http://www.leegibsontraining.com/lgtdvd.htm and the PAYPAL option displays an error message, please click on the following link which is directly below:

“If this is a case I can send an invoice through PAYPAL which will enable you to send the funds through. To send an email, please click here
Many thanks.”

Clicking here will bring you to an email page where you send and submit a PAYPAL INVOICE request, which will then be sent to your PAYPAL account, and on your completion of the funds transfer, we will dispatch your DVD.

Please note the submission of a PAYPAL INVOICE request is not deemed that you committing to sale, you must complete the transfer of funds for the order to be successfully completed and DVD dispatched.

Take a look at the LGT DVD preview below:

Many thanks. Enjoy the LGT WORKSHOP DVD.

Norway - Sunday

Today we built on all the things we worked on yesterday. We did lots of exercises on crossing behind and turning out of tunnels, to which the handlers did really well.

We looked at the relationship between body language and verbal commands, which have to both be used effectively to work the dogs from a distance.

It has been a very wintery snowy day here in Tonsberg, I have never driven in such bad weather, it really was something else!

We are heading back to the Pizza restaurant we ate at last night, which was great. I have been watching a live internet feed of the Everton v Middlesbrough match, and drinking Norwegian beer also, so im now a little on the light headed side!! I am very very happy though!!

Well done to all today’s participants in the seminars this weekend, look forward to June!!

Norway - Saturday

Today it has not stopped snowing all day, the piles of it cover the barriers in the middle of the road, its really like nothing Ive seen before, yet life seems to go on as normal... so I know I am not in the UK!

Had two good training sessions today, trained from 10-1pm and then 1.30-4.30pm. The venue is just fantastic, its like an indoor astro-turf football pitch, and its heated. Just brilliant for running the dogs on, and there is loads of room.

We have focused on some of the basics today, and getting the dogs to work away from their handlers in the direction of jumps even if the handler is on the far side. We are going to build on this for tomorrows training also.

We are going to eat out this evening, and maybe drink out too! I have taken lots of pictures but cannot connect the camera to the pc, so il upload them next week.

Best wishes from Lee (Its not -5 anymore thankfully!)

Norway

I am writing this from my bed as I am pretty tired after today. I woke up in Shropshire, drove to the NEC, visited Crufts, Flew to Amsterdam (late!) transferred (ran!) and am now in Tronsberg, Norway! Quite a day!

It is snowing loads here, and the snow around the place when you are driving is immense, there’s loads of it. I am glad that I am indoors this weekend though!!
Have had a very good laugh with the two people Im staying with, they are great and we already have some England v Norway banter on the go.

The training this weekend is mainly going to be on weaves, jumps, handling, turns and tunnels (tunnel traps etc) and I am looking forward to meeting the groups tomorrow morning.

Best regards all – Lee

Training Exercise & update March 2nd

Here is a training plan which I promised to put up on the blog from a recent training event. Use this exercise to practice the weave entry and turning the dog so they are aware of where the weaves are, before we give the obstacle command.

I have been busy training quite a lot recently. I am visiting Cruft’s Thursday of this week, and then I am flying to Norway on Friday for a training weekend. I am very excited as I have not been to Norway before.

Best wishes to all - Lee
