Beacon Championship Judging

Beacon Championship Judging:

Saturday 7th May

I was kindly asked to do my first Championship appointment by Beacon Club last weekend. I was happy to judge the class and enjoyed the day a lot.

I wanted to design courses that tested all the elements (over three rounds) that a grade 7 Championship course should do. I put in independent weaves, contacts, go-abounds at various points. I also included wrong end of tunnel, obstacle discrimination, straight line speed & handling sections (front crosses / cross behinds etc)

I will upload the course plans but once I am back from my latest trip (2 weeks in Finland training seminars & judging) because I want to use the courses there too!

Well done the Nicola Garrett & Indie for winning the Small dog Ticket, and well done to Ashleigh Butler with Pudsy for winning the Medium dog Ticket.

Thanks to all the great feedback I had whilst judging and after the event. I was people like the challenge of what Championship should be. I always say quality comes through in the end, and the final proved that in a thrilling climax.

Vyne Show

Vyne Show Results:

Was very happy on Monday, managed to get both dogs into the Large Championship final and both went clear, with Scott finishing 5th in the final. Very pleased and cannot wait for the next show!

Scotty also managed a 9th in the Olympia qualifier, so all in all it was a good days competing and I was very happy with how the dogs were running!

Next weekend at Beacon show I am judging the Small & Medium Championship classes, which I am extremely looking forward too.

Shrewsbury Show

Just a quick update!

Was at Shrewsbury show this weekend and its been a really good two days.

Scott won 4 out of his 6 classes, 3 grade 6&7 agilitys and 1 jumping. He had a 3rd in the other jumping, and one E (that was my fault!)

Jack has had a 2nd and a 3rd also. So I am very happy with the dogs.

Also well done to some of my LGT students, many gaining places and Clare winning to grade 6, Sue qualifing to the Vagas final just two of the highlights. I am very happy.

Tomorrow we are going to Vyne (Monday) so a 4am get up I think.. nice!

Update April 2011

 Update (its been a while!)

Well this month has been very busy, so busy infact I have got so behind with writing any updates and even my agility zone magazine articles, although I have got that done now!

I have been in Norway, Czech Republic, Sweden as well as TAG show and Lincoln shows. We also had the selection day for the Great Britain EO (European Open) team.

So on the results front:

I am going to Austria as part of team GB! Jack made 3 clears out of 4, and we qualified along with some other excellent handlers and dogs. It will be a exciting team that we are taking to the EO!

Scott had a jumping 1st at Lincoln, and a 5th in the EO class getting points for next years selection date!

At TAG, I managed another jumping win with Scott in 6and7Combined, and Jack managed a 2nd & 3rd in Agility grade 7 and Jumping grade 7.

From 21st April to the 24th April I was at Gasahoppet show in Malmo Sweden. I was judging at the show and designed/judged the Class 3 agility (Sat) and Jumping course (Sun).

Above Class 3 Jumping
Above Class 3 Ag
The courses proved to be quite trickey but fun, fast and tested some of the skills I like to see at the highest level of the sport.

I had a super time in Sweden with some great people, however I am looking forward to being at home for a bit now and running my dogs in the shows coming up!

I will upload a video soon, have some of Scott and Jacks rounds to upload!
