Nottingham Show & LGT this week

Hello,

I am back from Nottingham show now. It was a good weekend although took me a while to get back into the swing of things with handling and timing. I may have been away teaching others some agility handling, but missing nearly 3 weeks with my own dogs meant Saturday my timing was all over the place.

Jack made the Champ final, that was about as good as it got Saturday!

However Sunday improved and I qualified Scott for the Olympia semi finals in September which is great. I also had a 6th and was part of a team that did well in the team event also.

This week is the start of my indoor classes at my new venue. At the moment it is only for people who train with me, but once established I am looking to expand to offer a whole range of classes, themed days, evenings and even competitions maybe!

WANTED: A pipe tunnel, if you have a good one to sell then please let me know. Also a heavy weave base is also wanted. Let me know if you have one to sell at a reasonable fair price.

Many Thanks.

Next up is Hinckley show at the weekend, looking forward to it already!

Back in the UK & Course Plans from Beacon Championship Show

Hello,

I am back from my trip to Finland, and what a super trip it was too. Lovely people who made me feel so welcome and enjoyed what I had to offer them. From Oulu to Lapland, Tornio and Helsinki, a great time indeed.

Now I am uploading my courses that I used at Oulu show Sunday. These are also the courses from Beacon Championship Show that I judged a couple of weekends ago.

I am loading them onto my LGT - Lee Gibson Training Facebook page. So please, if you have not already, please search LGT - Lee Gibson Training, click 'Like' and then enjoy the courses. For anyone who does not have Facebook and would like to see the course plans, please email me!

Had a little training with Scotty today, we have a important show - Nottingham at the weekend. Looking forward to it a lot!

An Update From Finland

Well touring Finland has been great so far. Ive been to Lapland, met Santa, seen husky's and reindeers. I have also been in sauna's, swam in outdoor pools, been drunk with the natives.. (or rather tried and failed to keep up) and even witnessed the country go mad when the won the ice hockey world cup.

I have of course been working hard doing seminars all week in various locations. Now I am back in Oulu judging a two day show. I have tried to help handlers get the best out of their dogs at all levels, and have met some great people along the way!

Today someone took a video of their dog and youtubed it, so here is the link. The dog had 10f but it shows the course and the competition itself.

Tomorrow is the last day of work, will be my 10th day of seminars or judging, so the legs are a bit weary at the moment!

Please 'like' my LGT Facebook page :)

12th May – 25th May

This is where I am now, about to start day two of my 8 days of seminars. I am in Oulu until Sunday evening, then I move to Rovaniemi until Wednesday, and then on to Tornio until Friday. Then I head back to Oulu to judge for two days, before flying to Helsinki for 3 days. It is a busy week or so!

Beacon Show

Beacon Show:

Sunday 8th May

Had a good day competing on the Sunday. Scotty was early to run in the EO qualifier, and he has been going so well I really wanted to get some more points. The course was good and challenging (especially picking up a long jump after a tunnel under a-frame which caused problems all through the class) but I enjoyed working it. Scott was flying around as he had not run Saturday and probably thought he had missed out. Any hows out of 100 odd dogs we finished 2nd to Alan Bray, which now means I have 15 points already, 12 more than the whole of last year!

Jack also finished 10th in the EO class. I trained the other agility as we have been pushing so much lately.

Well done to Wendy Williams for her first Grade 3 win with her new dog Fern, a nice jumping round. Some of my students have been doing very well recently, will have to watch my back I think!

Beacon Championship Judging

Beacon Championship Judging:

Saturday 7th May

I was kindly asked to do my first Championship appointment by Beacon Club last weekend. I was happy to judge the class and enjoyed the day a lot.

I wanted to design courses that tested all the elements (over three rounds) that a grade 7 Championship course should do. I put in independent weaves, contacts, go-abounds at various points. I also included wrong end of tunnel, obstacle discrimination, straight line speed & handling sections (front crosses / cross behinds etc)

I will upload the course plans but once I am back from my latest trip (2 weeks in Finland training seminars & judging) because I want to use the courses there too!

Well done the Nicola Garrett & Indie for winning the Small dog Ticket, and well done to Ashleigh Butler with Pudsy for winning the Medium dog Ticket.

Thanks to all the great feedback I had whilst judging and after the event. I was people like the challenge of what Championship should be. I always say quality comes through in the end, and the final proved that in a thrilling climax.

Vyne Show

Vyne Show Results:

Was very happy on Monday, managed to get both dogs into the Large Championship final and both went clear, with Scott finishing 5th in the final. Very pleased and cannot wait for the next show!

Scotty also managed a 9th in the Olympia qualifier, so all in all it was a good days competing and I was very happy with how the dogs were running!

Next weekend at Beacon show I am judging the Small & Medium Championship classes, which I am extremely looking forward too.

Shrewsbury Show

Just a quick update!

Was at Shrewsbury show this weekend and its been a really good two days.

Scott won 4 out of his 6 classes, 3 grade 6&7 agilitys and 1 jumping. He had a 3rd in the other jumping, and one E (that was my fault!)

Jack has had a 2nd and a 3rd also. So I am very happy with the dogs.

Also well done to some of my LGT students, many gaining places and Clare winning to grade 6, Sue qualifing to the Vagas final just two of the highlights. I am very happy.

Tomorrow we are going to Vyne (Monday) so a 4am get up I think.. nice!
