Lee & Scott visit a primary school!

Hello, I’ve been really busy lately training and then evening working most days so I have not been putting much up here.

Something of interest was the day trip into a Telford Primary school last Thursday. I took 4 jumps, v weaves and Scott with me to do an agility demonstration. The kids all loved it. I then toured the class rooms and all 300 kids met Scott (some spoke to me but Scott was the main draw!) and the different age groups had different projects to do based on me and my agility dogs. It was great to see the children so excited and working so hard.

In each of the classrooms I was asked questions too... Now i have done many training seminars, and never have a few questions thrown me as much as the ones I was asked by the kids. Here is my top five of the day which I really found hard to answer:

1) How long is your dog?
2) Why do you train so much?
3) What do you eat? Is it the same as Scott?
4) Why did Scott destroy one of the jumps? (Yes Scott out of 5 runs knocked one pole and they of course found it hilarious that the jump fell to pieces!)
5) Will you be on the Olympics?
6) Have you trained a Rottweiler?
7) Are you fit?! (I so wanted to give my witty answer!)

I am hoping to get some pictures from the day up here but can’t promise because of legal issues with photo’s at School etc.

Thanks to the School for a fantastic day. School dinner was fun in the school hall!!! I felt like a kid again... had my daily Milk carton!

ITV 8.00pm Tuseday Evening

Check out Annette Faulks who stars in Trinny & Susannah Meet Their Match (8.00pm ITV this evening).

Annette is a good friend of mine and I had to embarrass her (also see agility net forum!).

No show this weekend!

No show results this week I’m afraid..

I was really disappointed not to be able to go to Ribble show on Sunday, we got up at 4.30am to find it snowing hard and a fair bit of snow on the ground.

We walked to the road and it was in a bad condition. For anyone that knows where we live and know the roads around us will know why I decided not to risk driving out in the van. It was really bad and I doubt we would have infact made it to Shrewsbury had we set out anyway!

It has been a nice day and we walked the dogs several times, and messed about in the snow. I really hate missing shows and had been doing a fair bit of training this week ready for Sunday, but it wasn’t to be.

Next show is Mid February and then end of March... so it is now a long couple of months but never mind, there’s still plenty to look forward too!!

Best wishes – Lee

Scotts Jumping Win

I am really buzzing at the moment!

I was competing at Wilmslow Saturday, and had a fantastic days agility. I was joking on the way to the show that we should all start as we mean to go on, but I am now really hoping that is going to be the case.

Firstly, Jack fresh from a decent rest gave a belting run in the grade 7 jumping class, and beating some quality dogs finished 2nd. He also had a 7th in the agility. I felt he was jumping with much more freedom and I hope that style will keep. Jack will be entering all the championship classes (well when I’m in the UK!) that he can this year.

Secondly, Che had 3 nice runs and managed a 9th in the grade 7 agility class. He always has fun and I know what I can realistically expect from him this season.
Thirdly, Scott. To be fair we probably have used up the allocated Clears for January but Saturday Scott was great. I felt he was using his body more on the 2nd phase of the turns (as a result of the new exercise iv e been doing – although he still has work to do!!) and I did some front pick-ups and although we rattled a couple of poles, we only knocked one down all day.

In the 3-5 combined agility Scott came 5th, 1.4 behind the winner. He was controlled on the contacts but worked the course lovely.

In the 4-5 jumping, Scott had a belting run and won by 0.2. I was really pleased as the course had a lot of 180degree turns in it, and I was pretty sure we would knock at least one pole, but he didn’t. It was fantastic starting to see what he can really do.

I have a video of Scotts win, and I’m working on getting it up here as soon as I can. It will be here this week!

Had two lessons today in quite literally gale force winds, it was nice to see the temperature at + rather than 0 or -8 as it was at one point last week!

Regards to all – Lee

Ice Pics - Wednesday 7th Jan

Enough said really...

Especially after I fell over several times!! Scott was fine. He in fact made friends with some dog walkers in the town we walked too.

One heck of a cold snap!

This week seems to be one of the most annoying weeks in recent times!!

It has been about -5 all week (was -8.6 earlier) and I can’t get in or out of the house, the roads are really bad, and it shows no sign of warming up!!

I can’t train the dogs; I’ve redone the
www.leegibsontraining,com home page, and tomorrow I have got to walk over the hill (about 4 miles) to post 3 DVD’s that have been on order!

I’ve been asked to do a Interview for a Finnish Magazine though, so that will keep me busy for a while!

Best wishes all – stay safe in the cold.
